Åstol Åstol is a small island located in the Bohuslän region on the west coast of Sweden. It is part of the municipality of Tjörn which includes around a hundred islands. It is only accessible by boat or ferry which leaves from Rönnängs brygga and stops in Dyrön, Åstol and Tjörnekalv.
Åstol is known for visa evenings in a converted smokehouse at the far end of the harbour. Galenskaparna and After Shave diluted their fame by making a film of their story about Åke from Åstol, a parody of Kristina from Duvemåla, recorded on location in the summer of 1998. The music groups Coldtears and Åstolpojkarna also come from Åstol.
The island can be reached via the ferry Hakefjord, which departs from Rönnäng on Tjörn and also operates Tjörnekalv and Åstol’s neighboring island Dyrön. In summer there is also a ferry connection to and from Marstrand. In the middle of the harbor is Åstol’s café, housed in an old warehouse. The fishing tour boat Hajen takes anglers out to sea.

Highlights :
- Originally the main activity on the island was fishing, today the island is renowned for its restaurant “Åstols Rökeri” which serves local specialties (mostly fish). Tourism during the summer season has become the most important activity.
