The building has a 106 m high “Great Tower” with 365 steps leading to it, and the top of the tower is decorated with three gilded crowns (the symbol of the Swedish Empire). At the top of the tower there is a museum and a bell tower with an observation deck from which the panorama of the city of Stockholm can be seen.

Stockholm’s stadshus considered one of the most important examples of Swedish romanticism , It hosts the Nobel Prize banquet and is one of Stockholm’s main tourist attractions.

  • The town hall building has two halls: “Blue Hall”  and “Golden Hall”. A banquet is held in the Blue Hall after the annual Nobel Prize ceremony. Here is also the largest organ in Scandinavia with 10,200 pipes. Above the Blue Hall is the Golden Hall, decorated with 18 million mosaic of gilded plates.

  • The courtyard of the town hall garden by Lake Mälaren is decorated with sculptures by Swedish sculptors Karl Eld and Christian Eriksson.
