Yonge Street is an urban street located in southeastern Ontario, Canada. It extends 57 kilometers (35.5 miles) from Toronto, from Lake Ontario, to East Gwillimbury, a few kilometers from Lake Simcoe.
The street starts in the very center of Toronto, from the embankment of Lake Ontario, and, cutting the city in two, goes north to Lake Simcoe.Yonge Street is home to many of Toronto’s attractions, including theater performances, the Eaton Centre, Yonge-Dundas Square, the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Toronto Star newspaper offices, etc. The Toronto Subway Yonge Line runs under this street and continues between King Street and Finch Avenue. The Viva Blue BRT line runs along Yonge from Finch to the Newmarket bus terminal.
Now the metro runs along the street inside the city limits, and it has wide sidewalks,Its length earned Yonge Street an entry in the Guinness Book of Records.
