The Salvador Dali desert or simply -Dali desert – is a desert in southwestern Bolivia, located south of the department of Potosi within the Eduardo Abaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve and south of the Chalviri salt flat. It is at an average altitude of 4750 meters above sea level and has an approximate area of 110 km². It is named because it is similar to some landscapes painted by the Spanish painter Salvador Dali, although he never knew of the existence of this site.

Access : Coordinates: -22.615, -67.663611 / Location : This desert is located near the Quetena Grande community southwest of Bolivia, located south of the department of Potosi within the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve and south of the Salar de Chalviri / The only way to explore this place is to either get on a tour or do a self-drive. You can rent a jeep in Uyuni and drive past salt flat Salar de Uyuni into the national reserve.

entry fees : 150 BOB (15 euros approx.) tip : There are no roads within the preserve , best wey to enjoy yhe place is to get a guide and driver.

Highlights :

  •  Supernatural colors : the wide range of supernatural colors that can be observed, something that is due to the minerals that overflow from the earth thanks to the volcanic and geothermal activity of the place.

  •  Flora and fauna : you can find some species of trees and plants that have adapted to the dryness, animals, such as 80 species of birds and mammals such as the fox, the puma and the vicuna, of the family of camelids.
  •  Eduardo Avaroa National Andean Fauna Reserve : from the Salvador Dali Desert is a complex of geysers and lagoons, among which the Laguna Verde, the Laguna Colorada or the Laguna Salada stand out, each with a unique shine.
