The Capilano Suspension Bridge is a free-swinging rope bridge in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

In 1888, George Grant McKay, a Scottish civil engineer and property developer, arrived in the fledgling city of Vancouver, Canada. McKay bought 6,000 acres of dense forest on both sides of the Capilano River and built a hut on the very edge of the canyon wall. In 1889, with the help of horses, which transported ropes across the river, he stretched a pedestrian crossing made of hemp rope and cedar planks across the canyon.
The length of the bridge is 137 meters, and the height above the Capilano River, which flows under it and seems to be just a stream, is 70 meters.
