Dickson-Land is located in the northern part of the island of Spitsbergen, The southernmost point of Dickson-Land is Cape Thordsen. Here is the Svenskhuset, a building built in 1872 that housed the Swedish expedition in 1882/83 as part of the First International Polar Year.
In Dickson Land lies the now-abandoned Russian mining settlement of Pyramiden, which is a popular tourist destination because it was left as if the residents would return at any time. The settlement can be reached by boat in summer and by snowmobile in winter from Longyearbyen. However, tourists are not allowed to ride snowmobiles in Dickson Land because it is no longer in the so-called Management Area 10. However, there are accommodations between Pyramids and the border of Management Area 10 that can be used by tourists.
Most notable natural landmarks in the area ,consists the stunning coastline of Billefjord, Skansbukta’s famous castle-like peaks, and the massive front of Nordenskiöld glacier where The world’s northernmost fjord-cruise is reaching.
