Hanauma Bay is an extinct volcanic crater southeast of the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

As one of Oahu’s main tourist destinations, Hanauma Bay is heavily visited by tourists. By 1990 there were around three million visitors a year. Accordingly, the underwater world, especially the coral reef, has suffered and lost some of its original beauty. The Honolulu County government then began reducing the number of visitors. To access the bay you must see a projection that instructs visitors on how to respect the natural wealth of the place (in case of multiple visits, within 6 months you are exempt from seeing the projection again).
Hanauma Bay located a few kilometers from Waikiki, the best-known beach in Honolulu, capital of the islands. The crater is one of the attractions of the island of Oahu. Thanks to its opening to the sea, fish species abound and it is a popular site for diving.
The bay served as a film location, among other things. for excerpts from the films Blue Hawaii with Elvis Presley and The Harbor Bar of Tahiti with John Wayne.
