Flores is a picturesque island town witch is located in Lake Petén Itzá ,of the Petén Department in Guatemala.

Flores is a picturesque island town witch is located in Lake Petén Itzá ,of the Petén Department in Guatemala.

The old town is located on an island in Lake Petén Itzá. It is connected to the mainland by a 500 m causeway. It was built on the site of the Mayan city of Tayasal, of which nothing remains.
There is a church in the center and numerous cafes and restaurants in the streets.

The Island of Flores is where the greatest tourist interest in the region is captured and you can get Tours to Tikal, Yaxhá, Ixpanpajul and other nearby places.
