Koror or Oreor ,is an island in the Oceanian republic of Palau. The island belongs with some small nearby islands to the state of Koror in the western Pacific Ocean.
The Republic of Palau is located in the westernmost part of the Caroline Islands archipelago. Palau is located approximately 800 km east of the Philippines. With an area of about 8km2 and a population of over 10,000, it is the most populous island in Palau. Until 2006, Koror was the capital. The island is irregular shaped and the town is located in the northwest.
Koror is located about 7km southwest of Babeldaob Island, the largest island in the Palau Islands, and is connected by a bridge. There is also a bridge between Malakal Island in the east and Arakabesang Island in the northeast. There are many small islands in the sea.
The city at Koror Island is a popular tourist destination, as it is famous for its white sand beaches and coral reefs. The city of Koror is the main center of the country’s economy and its largest city ,There are many hotels, souvenir shops and restaurants in the city.There are 22 hotels and 8 motels in Koror. Nearby is the Blue Holes dive site, which is a series of four “holes” located at the top of the reef that plunge into a giant deep cave.
- At a distance of 35 km south of Koror, there are more than 200 islands, which are united by a common name: the Rock Islands.
