The crystal-clear lake Hintersee is located on a high plateau at the edge of the national park Berchtesgaden ( Germany ) and has one of the best stocks of brook trout of the Alpine region.

The lake has an excellent stock of brook trout and brown trout, which find ideal living and reproduction conditions in this water.

The Hintersee is located around 12 km west of Berchtesgaden. It can be reached on the St2099, which branches off from the B305 from Berchtesgaden to Bad Reichenhall.
