The Montefiore Windmill is a landmark windmill located in Jerusalem, Israel. built in 1857 by the British Jewish banker and philanthropist Moses Montefiore on a slope opposite Jerusalem’s western city walls.
Built in 1857 on a hill facing the western wall of the Old City of Jerusalem, this windmill is located near the Jaffa Gate. It is built on the land where the Jewish quarter of Mishkenot Sha’ananim was founded in the 1860s by the philanthropist Sir Moses Montefiore, whose name it bears.
The mill dominates the panorama of the Yemin Moshe district. It now houses a small museum dedicated to Moses Montefiore. It never worked due to lack of wind where it was built.

- Montefiore Train : In a glass room in this windmill is a replica of Sir Moses Montefiore’s chariot which he used on all his travels. The original train was brought to Palestine by Boris Schatz, founder of the Bezalel Academy of Fine Arts and Design, but was damaged when it was burned down in 1986.
