The glacial lake lies at the foot of Poland’s highest mountain, the Rysy. The Polish-Slovak border runs across its summit.
The sea eye plays an important role in Polish culture. It is probably the most famous lake in Poland.
You can get to the lake, which is one of the most popular destinations in the Tatra Mountains, either by horse-drawn carriage or sleigh along the Oswald-Balzer-Weg panoramic road, or about 9 km on foot.The hike to this jaw-dropping alpine lake is one of the most spectacular hikes in Poland.
Morskie Oko was described by the Wall Street Journal as “one of the five most beautiful lakes in the world”.
