Murud-Janjira Is an ancient fort located on an island off the Konkan coast near the coastal town of Murud, in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, along India’s Western coast.
Malik Ambar began construction under the command of Ethiopian military leader in the 17th century. ended at the end of the twentieth century. It has remained almost intact to this day. In his time it was defended by about 572 cannons.
Situated on a rocky high rise in the Arabian Sea near the port city of Murud, which is about 260 km south of Mumbai. Enemy attacks can be carried out by means of a waterway or aerial. Because of the lack of aerobatics at the time the fort was built, the only way to attack was a waterway. However, artillery and tupacas are so heavy that it is difficult to transport them to the fort. The fort is one of the most important sea fortress in India.
The fort is surrounded by water and has high walls that cannot be easily climbed. The architecture of the fort is different from the main entrance structure. The gateway to the fort is not visible from the distance. It is only when one gets close that the entrance of the fort can be revealed. There is a hidden tunnel to get out from inside the castle, which runs underneath the tidal water and opens into the sea. That tunnel has now been banned for security reasons.
Artillery was placed on all the walls of the fort. Some of the cannons are still there. There are secret holes in the walls of the fort that help keep the enemy out of the attack. Inside the fort are fresh water ponds, bungalows for officers, majestic councils and mosques, all of which are now in ruins. One of the surviving pieces of the building testifies to the fact that the Sabha Bhavan had several floors.

- The main gate of the Murud-Janjira Fort is built under the cover of walls. Which stops visible due to walls when going a few meters away from the fort. This is the reason that despite coming near the fort, the enemies get dodged and are not able to enter the fort.
- This fort was built by Siddi Johar. This fort was built in 22 years. This fort is spread over 22 acres. It has 22 security checkpoints.
- The gigantic cannons :In the Murud-Janjira Kalak Bangadi, there is the 3rd Largest Cannon in India, weighing over 22 Tons.
