Oja is an island in the Stockholm archipelago. It is located south of Toro in the municipality Nynashamn ( Sweden ) . Landsort is the name of the southern tip of the island with the main settlement of the island and the lighthouse.

The island is long and narrow: it has a width of about 560 meters and is 4.2 kilometers long, with an area of about 2.2 km ². In the north of the island outweighs a forest area, in the south is the place Landsort. At the southern tip lies Landsorts fyr, Sweden’s oldest still-used lighthouse. He was commissioned and built by the Dutch merchant Johan van der Hagen in 1658. After the beacon, a ship class of the Swedish Navy is named.

The Swedish Sea Rescue Sjoraddningssallskapet SSRS has always stationed at least one boat in the port of Landsort. Traditionally, most of the islanders acted as merchant navigators in the waters off Nynashamn and Stockholm.

In Bredmar just north of Landsort is the Landsorts Fagelstation (Ornithological Landsort). The Vogelberingung began in the 1970s on the island, the association that operates the station today, but was founded in 1988.

Access : Coordinates: 58.756944°, 17.865° / by public transport: Bus 852 from Nynashamn’s station towards Toro, Ankarudden. The buses are adapted to the boat schedule.Then the boat to Landsort , The boat does not take cars. You can only go by bike or walk on the island. by car:
Drive road 73 towards Nynashamn. Turn off before Nynashamn at the sign: Nynashamn Norra (north), Herrhamra. Just after the bridge turn right, sign Toro Herrhamra. Then you will have 20 km left before arriving to Ankarudden. Run as far as the road goes, the road is very narrow.

There are around 100 parking lots, you can not make reservations.
Price: 10 SEK/hour, 60 SEK/day / If you visit Landsort with your own boat, there is a guest harbor in the north.
