Peyto Lake is a glacial lake located in Banff National Park, one of the Canadian Rocky Mountains National Parks, in the province of Alberta, Canada.
Peyto Lake forms in one of the valleys of the Waputik Range (Waputik Range, meaning “white goat” in the Nakoda language), between Caldron Peak, Peyto Peak, and Mount Jimmy Simpson. Peyto Lake, in an incomparable setting, is located at an altitude of about 1,880 meters above sea level. It has a length of 2.8 km. and a width of approximately 800 meters, with a total area of 5.3 km².
In summer, the melting of the glaciers and its corollary, the significant contribution of suspended mineral particles, give the waters of the lake a luminous and fascinating turquoise color.

Highlights :
- Peyto Lake was named for Bill Peyto, a well-known trapper and mountain guide in the late 1800s.
- The viewpoint over the lake is easily accessible from the “Icefields Parkway”, Highway 93, the so-called “Icefields Highway”. Next to the viewpoint there is a car park where vehicles can be parked.
- The lake is fed by the Mistaya River, part of the Wapta glacier area, Peyto glacier, and Lake Caldron.
