Glencolmcille is a coastal village and district , on the southwest Gaeltacht tip of County Donegal, Ireland.

Glencolmcille located in the northwest of the country, near the Derryveagh Mountains, the Slieve League cliffs on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.
The “Valley of St. Columban” is a popular place of pilgrimage. Its name commemorates St Columban , who was said to have been born in 561 AD as the son of a king of Leinster and lived here for a time before going to Iona in Scotland. He is one of Ireland’s three national saints.
The village is today known for its Irish language learning institute created in 1984 to promote the Irish language and culture. Glencolmcille in terms of facilities has three pubs ,grocer, post office ,woollen mill ,shops, village café, accommodation center, pubs and local services.
