The Clock Tower is located on the east side of the castle hill, opposite the tailor’s tower (with the second castle gate).The Clock Tower measures 64 meters high, of which 39.5 meters is made up of the roof, which is finished in the shape of a needle, and it also has four small turrets on the sides.
The building was built in the 14th century to protect the main gate of the city. Destroyed by fire, it was rebuilt in 1677 in Baroque style with the tower pinnacle inspired by the castle tower of St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague.
The Clock Tower is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Transylvania and has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site as an outstanding cultural monument with the “historical center” – the so-called castle .
