The famous shipwreck “Dimitrios” has been located since December 23, 1981 on Valtaki Beach, about 5 km from Gythio, in Peloponnese, Greece.
During a storm on December 23, 1981, the ship broke loose and stranded on Valtaki Beach. The name Cornilia faded and today the ship is known by its previous name Dimitrios.
This famous shipwreck Shrouded in mystery . There are many rumors and myths about the ship’s origins and how it got stranded on the beach ,one of these myths talks about a ghost ship of unknown origins or even that it was involved in cigarette smuggling. However none of the above is true. Today It is a well-known photo opportunity because of its location on the sandy beach.
