Pontikonisi is a tiny rocky islet , located just a few meters east of Corfu island in the Ionian Sea ,in Greece.
The island is located near the island of Corfu, in the bay of Halikiopoulos. Its main characteristic is the presence At the top of the island is a temple dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Savior, which celebrates on August 6 and dates from the late Byzantine period, 11th century AD. The island is said to have served as inspiration for Arnold Böcklin’s painting The Isle of the Dead. This tiny rocky islet is one of the most popular and well-known tourist attractions of Corfu.
