The 30 meter high statue in Art Deco style dates from 1931. It became a model for numerous other large statues of Christ. There is a chapel in the approximately eight meter high base.
The symbol of Rio de Janeiro Classified as a historic monument since 1973, it  the most famous attraction in Rio de Janeiro, visited by nearly 2 million people .You can easily climb up to the statue and admire the stunting views  by  the train  that reaches almost to the foot, then you have to travel a little more on the escalator. From the top, all tourists can enjoy views of the city, beaches and ocean.
