The state economy is represented by agriculture, small industries and handicrafts. The state is engaged in the production of bamboo for various purposes, including for its use in construction and as a fuel material.
Aizawl city is the capital of Mizoram province  In the north-eastern part of India.The largest city in the state with a population of 291,822 . It was founded in 1894. The average altitude is 1018 meters.

The city is located on a mountain range, bounded in the west by the valley of the Tlong river, in the east – by the valley of the Tuirial river. The average height above sea level is 1,132 meters.
The city is the center of the agricultural region. The production of handicrafts is developed. Local artisans make furniture and various metal products. These places are famous for skillful weavers. There are enterprises for the harvesting and processing of wood. Aizawl is known as the religious center of Mizoram.
The state government is making considerable efforts to attract tourists: tourist complexes are being built, festivals are being held. The city, located on the hills, is attractive in itself, the surrounding area is interesting for observation decks and beautiful nature.
