Bunyakiri is a town in Kalehe Territory, South Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo, a country in Central Africa.

Bunyakiri is known for its cultivation of cassava, bananas and palm nuts. In times of peace, it serves as a granary for the city of Bukavu.
Bunyakiri provides access to the Kahuzi-Biega National Park, which has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980 and whose best-known rare animal species is the eastern lowland gorilla.

Access : Coordinates: 2° 05′ 30″ S, 28° 34′ 23″ E / Bunyakiri located in the far north of the province of South Kivu, 72 km from the city of Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

  • The Kahuzi-Biéga National Park, founded in 1970 by the Belgian Adrien Deschryver, is located in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, 50 km west of Bukavu in the Sud-Kivu region near the western bank of the Kivusete and the border with Rwanda. The park has been UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980
