Castellfollit de la Roca is a Old town in Spain,with medieval origin part of the province of Girona in the autonomous community of Catalonia.
The village is built on a basalt cliff, called la cinglera de Castellfollit, which is about fifty meters high and about a kilometer long.
The place is in the Comarca Garrotxa on a rock massif of basalt rock more than fifty meters high. The original appearance of a typical Catalan village, the houses of which were mainly built from volcanic rock from the surrounding area, has largely been preserved.
The municipality is located in the Natural Park of the Volcanic Zone of La Garrotxa. Castellfollit de la Roca is one of the smallest municipalities in Spain, with less than a square kilometer.

/ There is a bus from Barcelona, the journey takes about 2 hours, the ticket costs about € 18.- a bus to and from Besalu – travel time – 20 minutes, 15 km, ticket price 4 euros.

- Architectural heritage of Castellfollite : The main attraction of this small town lies in its essentially unique architecture, which, as if out of nowhere, has bound the mountain, which in turn appears as if from nowhere among bridges and dense green forests
- Beautiful bright clock tower near the local city hall. According to the version, at the beginning of the twentieth century it was built by the deputies, as a sign of victory in the elections.
- Castellfolit is home to the only active basalt quarry in all of Spain, owned by the Ortiz family since 1929.
- church of San Salvador : At the very edge of the cliff is the ancient church of San Salvador. It was built in the 11th century, but, unfortunately, little has survived from its original Romanesque architecture.
- Pont Trencat : Near the village is another famous Catalan landmark – Pont Trencat or Broken Bridge. It was built in 1908, but then it turned out that the soil was unreliable, and cracks went through the entire stone base
- Every Saturday, a small market comes to life, selling fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs / El Museu de l’Embotit – sausage museum: a butchery museum dedicated to the signature Catalan sausage. The museum was opened in 1993 in memory of the first license for the production of sausages, obtained 150 years ago.
- The lookout point – Mirador – at the far end of the village offers a view of the volcanic rock formations of the Garrotxa region.
- Vietnam Museum: it is a unique facility in Europe. It is a private collection of all kinds of items such as uniforms, equipment, material and other pieces related to the Vietnam War of the 1960s.
