Dead Vlei is a wilderness area which is located near the famous Sossusvlei Salt Flats in the Namib Desert, Namibia.

The most famous subject to shoot in Deadvlei are the dead trees , Subsequently, dunes surrounded the area and blocked the flow of water, causing the trees to die from lack of water. The remaining skeletons of the trees, said to be about 900 years old, are blackened by the sun. Although they are not petrified, they do not decay because it is too dry.
Deadvlei is part of the Namib-Naukluft National Park and, like nearby Sossusvlei to the north and east, is marketed for geotourism and consists  one of the most popular photo locations within Namibia.
