The lighthouse on the Dornbusch is a widely visible landmark of Hiddensee in the Rügen region of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The Dornbusch lighthouse  is an active lighthouse located on the highlands of Dornbusch, north of the island of Hiddensee ( Hiddensee is a German island in the Baltic Sea. It is located immediately west of Rugen. ) in the West Pomeranian-Rugen District (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) in Germany.

The Dornbusch  lighthouse, built in 1887-88, was commissioned on 19 November 1888 on the north of the island of Hiddensee, northwest of the island of Rugen, to guide navigation in the channel from Gellen to the ports of Stralsund and Strelasund. The tower, originally cylindrical, was rebuilt between 1927 and 1929 and has a shell with 12 faces in reinforced concrete.ue to its location on a 72 meters above the sea rising Dornbuschhugel also called “Beacon Dornbusch”.

The Dornbusch lighthouse stamps : On July 2, 2009, Deutsche Post issued a commemorative stamp bearing the image of the Dornbusch lighthouse worth 55 eurocents in the series Lighthouses./ the lighthouse Dornbusch, appeared on 13 May 1975 by the German post office of the GDR.The lighthouse Dornbusch is one of the most famous motifs on the small Baltic Sea island.

From the port of Schaprode on the west coast of Ruegen, up to eight ferries pass daily to Kloster (journey time 45-70 minutes).

Highlights :

  • The lighthouse has been open to the public since 1994. There are 102 steps to the viewing platform at the height of the lens. Due to the small size, only 15 people can enter the tower at the same time. At wind force 6 ( Beaufort scale ), or higher, the tower is closed for safety reasons. The Danish island of Mon can be seen from the lighthouse in clear weather.
    You can visit the permanent exhibition “Technology and History of the Lighthouse” during the opening hours.
