The island is designated as a nature reserve and is uninhabited. The only larger mammals that live on the island are goats, which were abandoned on the island by a monk who lived there in asceticism for some time. The only current human traces, apart from the introduction of goats, are the lighthouses and the remains of silos.
There are many myths and rumors surrounding the island of Es Vedrà. For some, Es Vedrà is the last visible part of Atlantis, others report UFO apparitions. The island is featured on the cover of Mike Oldfield’s music album Voyager.
