Gamcheon Cultural Village is a village in the Gamcheon-dong quarter of the Saha-gu district of Busan, South Korea.The village was founded in 1950 by followers of the Taegyk-do religion, which arose in the early 20th century during the Japanese occupation of the Korean Peninsula, and refugees from the northern regions of the peninsula who fled the outbreak of the Korean War.
The area has been a poor and unsettled neighborhood for decades, but in 2009  Busan artists and residents of the neighborhood jointly implemented the “Art District Project” with the support of the Busan administration and the country’s Ministry of Culture, resulting in the Gamcheon Cultural Village.
In 2019, it has grown into a famous tourist destination with more than 2 million visitors annually, it has become an artistic town, and is sometimes called “Machu Picchu in South Korea,” “Santorini in South Korea,” or “Cinque Terre in South Korea.”
