Navágio Bay , also called Shipwreck Bay or Smugglers’ Bay, is a secluded bay in the west of the island of Zakynthos, Greece.

The bay, sheltered by high limestone cliffs and can only be reached by boat. Prior to the shipwreck of the MV Panagiotis it was known as the cove of Saint George , in honor of the monastery located on the cliff above.
Today Navágio Bay and  Navagio Beach it is one of the most picturesque and  most photographed  coves in the world.

Highlights :

  • The place was named “best beach in the world” in 2018 by a jury of 1,200 tourism stakeholders. This bay is also one of the filming locations for the South Korean series Descendants of the Sun
  • Navágio Bay or Shipwreck Bay or Smugglers’ Bay,  owes its fame to the wreck of the M/n Panagiotis, which ran aground on its sands in 1980.
  • The Navagio Beach was closed to locals and visitors and will remain closed throughout the summer. from 2023 until at least September.
  • On the promontory there is a panoramic walkway with a terrace suspended in the air, from which it is possible to observe the beach from above.
  • Navagio Shipwreck, M.V. Panagiotis , a picturesque Greek shipwreck lying in the white sands, on the north-western coast of the island of Zakynthos.
