Jökulsárlón is a glacial lagoon , The largest lagoon in the country is located in the southeastern part of the Iceland.

The  lagoon  is located in the southeastern part of the island, between Skaftafell National Park and the large city of Höfn. Jökulsárlón is a glacial lagoon, a lake filled with meltwater from a glacier, namely the Breidamerkurjökull glacier. It is the tongue of the larger (in fact, the largest in Europe) Vatnajökull glacier. There are also icebergs floating around the lagoon that break off from the glacier. Some are several stories high! These icebergs accumulate at the shallow neck of the bay and slowly melt here into relatively small pieces, which are carried out to sea. A picturesque sight – blue and white ice floes slowly drifting near the glacial cliffs of Vatnajokull.
In addition, Jokulsarlon is the lowest point in Iceland , since the ground under the glacier lies 200 m below sea level, pressed down by the weight of the ice.
Jokulsarlon is photographed more often than any other place in all of Iceland, so it has already turned into a typical Arctic landscape for magazine covers and Hollywood , blockbusters have been filmed here, including Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The Adventures of James Bond “Die Another Day” and “A View to a Kill”.It is truly picturesque and one of the most popular places in Iceland!
