The cliffs of Mon – Mons Klint are chalk coastal cliffs located at the eastern end of the Danish island of Mon.The bright limestone cliffs extend for about 6 km from Liselund park in the north to the lighthouse in the south.
Some of the cliffs reach a height of 120 meters above the sea below. The area around Mons Klint consists of forests, pastures, ponds and steep hills, including Aborrebjerg which, at a height of 143 m, is one of Denmark’s highest points. The cliffs and adjacent park are protected as a nature reserve.
The Mons Klint has a varied appearance due to decomposition. Generally, the ravine can be followed on foot along its entire length along the coast, although occasionally the landslides create natural barriers.
Mons Klint is a popular tourist destination across Europe with hundreds of thousands of visitors a year. There are clearly marked paths for pedestrians, motorcyclists and cyclists. The path along the cliffs offers stunning views and leads to the beach staircase at various locations.

With Movia bus 664 from Vordingborg Station to Stege and change to Movia bus 678, which stops at GeoCenter Mons Klint, however only during the tourist season./ by car :

By bike :
A bicycle and hiking trail through the Klinteskoven connects Camping Mons Klint and the Geocentret. You must cycle on all the roads and trails of the forest – except the riding trails. Special mountain bike routes have been built in the Klinteskoven.
Highlights :
- GeoCenter Mons Klint at Stengardsvej 8, 4791 Borre, is open all week 7 days from the Saturday before Easter to 31 October. The center is equipped with lifts between the different plans, so that wheelchair users and the poor can walk around the house.
- From the 128 m high Queen’s chair there is a clear view of the Baltic Sea to Sweden and Germany. There are daily trips from Klintholm Harbor with the sailboat Discovery to Mons Klint. The tour lasts two hours.
- Mons Klint as UNESCO World Heritage Site : On July 1, 2018, Mons Klint was included on the Danish UNESCO National Commission’s tentative list, which means that Mons Klint is now the official candidate to achieve an actual designation as a UNESCO World Heritage site in the natural area.
- The park at Liselund. Add to that the world’s fastest animals, Denmark’s largest selection of wild orchids and a forest with over 400 year old beech trees.
- Campfire and camp sites : Picnic area can be found at Oatmeal. Primitive accommodations are found south of the Krageskoven and at Lille Ornebjerg. There are two shelter sites in the area – at Storeklint south of the Geocenter and at Mandemarke Bakker on the south coast. Accommodation on the squares at Lille Ornebjerg and Storeklint requires special permission.
- Klintholm Estate and the Klinteskoven : Klintholm Estate has belonged to the Scavenius family since 1798. The current owner is the 7th generation on the site and took over in 2007. Mon’s Klint and the eastern part of the Klinteskoven also belonged to Klintholm Estate until the area was sold to the state in 1980.The estate is operated with agriculture, forestry and tourism. Camping Mons Klint, several restaurants and a supermarket.
- Hovblege : Hlevblege is a hill comb of lime with Kongsbjerg at 135 meters as the highest point. From here you have a great view of the Baltic Sea. From the top you can also look down into the King’s Kitchen and the Dormitory. This is what the two recesses are called south of Kongsbjerg. Here, according to the old legends, you can meet the King of Kings on horseback.
- Jydeleige and Oats : The Jydeleje north of the Klinteskoven is a soft rounded valley that cuts into the landscape behind the cliff. The region’s unique wealth of rare plants and animals has made it known and visited by botanists and zoologists for more than 100 years.
- In art : Mons Klint has been a popular subject for landscape painters, especially during the Danish Golden Age when the national romanticism movement encouraged artists to take renewed interest in the Danish countryside.
- Denmark’s highest cliff : Mons Klint is Denmark’s highest cliff. Going north along the path from the parking lot at the Geocentret, you reach the highest point – the Queen’s Chair. Here the cliff falls almost vertically the 128 meters down to the beach
- See the King’s face : 200 meters further north you have a fantastic view at Forchhammers Pynt. To the north you can see how the flint layers were folded in the chalk as the ice pushed up the cliff. A little further on you meet the King of the King’s face. It is a 10 meter high profile in the cliff. You can take the stairs at Red Falls and walk back along the beach. Another opportunity to see the cliff both from above and from the beach is if you go south from the Geocenter. Here you pass the remains of Freuchens Ornaments, which fell into the sea in 1998. The ornament is named after the famous polar scientist Peter Freuchen, whose cousin was pastor of the local church.
- The Guinness World Record : GeoCenter Mons Klint has initiated a record attempt, approved by the Guinness World Record, to collect the largest collection of wetting lights,
- Hiking : Camonoen is a 175 km long hiking route on Mon, Bogo and Nyord. The route is known as the Kingdom’s friendliest walking route.

A 267 meter long pedestrian bridge at GeoCenter Mons Klint opened in 2013. From here, guests in a wheelchair, with a walker or with a stroller have access to several points with great views of the cliff. The park at Liselund is also accessible by wheelchair.
