Norway’s Marble “Castle”

The marble castle is a popular natural attraction outside Mo i Rana , a city in Nordland county, Norway.

The marble castle is made of the river Glomåga. For many years, Glomåga has excavated potholes and other formations with many different shapes .From the car park  There is a sign for the Marble Castle so it was easy to find, the way to the castle leads through a very beautiful forest.
The area is not secured and the river is strong. Pay special attention and caution if you want to visit it with small children or pets.
Visit the Marble Castle from the end of May but  best time considered taking this trek in the summer when the water flow in the river is smaller and the terrain is drier. Norway’s Marble “Castle”  is  a destination that has exploded in popularity over the past years.

Access : Coordinates: 66°29′45″N 13°52′42″Ø  / Marble “Castle” is about a 45 minute drive from Mo i Rana.

Highlights :

  • For thousands of years, turquoise meltwater from the Svartisen glacier has formed a natural sculpture park, with giant potholes and spiral-like designs in marble.
  • The spectacular, nature-created sculptural landscape, which is part of Saltfjellet-Svartisen National Park, you park the car, walk the path past the farm and walk to the marble castle in about 25 minutes.

Go next : Mo i Rana , in Rana Municipality in Norway , a town at the end of the Ranfjord, which is just a few kilometers south of the Arctic Circle.
