Padar is one of the Lesser Sunda Islands in Indonesia, between the larger neighboring islands of Komodo in the west and Rinca in the east.
The island is relatively closer to Rinca Island than to Komodo Island, which is separated by the Leech Strait, strait which is notorious for its strong and dangerous currents.
The island is of volcanic origin, it enjoys some fame because it is part of Komodo National Park,It has four bays, and there are not only white but also gray and pink sandy beaches,The surrounding sea is a famous place for scuba diving and snorkeling.
It was home to a small population of Komodo dragons that appear to have disappeared as a result of a fire and is part of Komodo National Park. In 1991, as part of the National Park, Padar was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
