Playa de La Franca – The Beach of La Franca, located in the council of Ribadedeva, in the town of La Franca, Principality of Asturias ,Spain.
Located at the mouth of the Cabra River, it is the coastal limit between Llanes and Ribadedeva. It is a sandy area of about 250 meters at low tide and 500 at high. It is shaped like a shell at high tide. On the left bank of the beach is the mouth of the Cabra River. This mouth is canalized with a limestone breakwater that prevents the current of the river from dividing the beach in two, creating dangerous currents and eddies.
During high tide it becomes a real natural pool, being very safe for swimming, for children and unbeatable for practicing water sports.
Bordered by the high cliffs of Santiuste and the rasa de Pimiango that fall precipitously over it, La Franca beach has a long tourist tradition among the beaches of eastern Asturias,La Franca is part of the Protected Landscape of the Eastern Coast of Asturias.
