Szczyrk is a popular ski resort and is located in a mountain range called Beskid Śląski and in the Zylica valley, in southern Poland.

Szczyrk is a popular ski resort and is located in a mountain range called Beskid Śląski and in the Zylica valley, in southern Poland.

Szczyrk located in the Beskids valley , a mountain range, southwest of Poland  at a height of 500-600 m. The city is built along the Zylica River.
Tourism became the main source of income during the interwar period. Austrian barracks and infirmaries were converted into hotels. In 1924, the Beskid Society, founded by German-speaking townspeople, built the Skrzyczne mountain hut, and in 1933 a second one.

In 2009, the European Winter Olympic Youth Festival was held in Szczyrk and other places in the Silesian Beskids.
In the period from 19 to 25.08.2018 Szczyrk hosted the international drafts tournament-100 Polish Open 2018, which is a stage of the World Cup in international drafts.
Szczyrk has 60 km of ski slopes and around 30 ski lifts , along with Zakopane and Wisła, it is one of the most famous Polish winter sports resorts in the Carpathians.

    After intensive modernization in Szczyrk, the slopes can be reached by 12 ski lifts, including: A 10-seater gondola lift, 6-seater chairlifts and disc lifts.
