Tash-Rabat Caravanserai was constructed in the 15th century ,  At Bashy district, Naryn Province, Kyrgyzstan. Located on the ancient trade route from Central Asia to China  is located in the picturesque canyon Kara-Koyun (Naryn region), 110 km south of the city of Naryn, not far from the border with China, at an altitude of 3200 meters above sea level., ancient caravanserai Tash-Rabat.
Tash-Rabat Caravanserai is a carefully restored stone building, which was once an inn on the Silk Road. The date of its appearance is not precisely established, but archaeological facts suggest that this place was already occupied in the 10th century. At 15 km above the foot of the Tien Shan is a beautiful valley, perched on the side of a mountain. There is evidence that this was both a place of rest and worship, and it was used to protect caravans going to China and back from the raging weather and bandits even before the times of Tamerlane and Genghis Khan.

There are about 30 rooms in total inside but it’s not clear exactly how the Tash Rabat caravanserai would have operated.Although the appearance of Tash-Rabat testifies to the fact that it was built in the traditions of medieval Central Asian architecture, the unusual nature of its construction caused the researchers to assess the purpose of this structure in different ways. Most of them believed that it served as a caravanserai,

since the building is located in the gorge, along which the mountain path leads from At-Bashi to Kashgar, along which trade caravans could pass, and the layout of the walls with towers and portal gates is typical of many medieval caravanserai in Central Asia. Under the fortress there are still many underground passages, all sorts of secret exits and prisons (zindans). They have been used for centuries as shelters for refugees and hermits, places to study religion. However, this building does not have a courtyard, where, for the rest period, caravan drivers usually unloaded and placed a pack belly.
