Rossbeigh Beach is a Lovely beach that stretches all the way to Dingle Bay ( Dingle Bay is a bay located in County Kerry, western Ireland ) . It has everything: rocks, sand, dunes, even a shipwreck!!!
Half way along the Rossbeigh Beach is the wreck of the Sunbeam which went down over 100 years ago and is now just weathered beams nestling in the sand.
The Sunbeam , a seventy four ton schooner was built in the 1860s in Exmouth and in 1870 was bought by Richard Kearon of Arklow, County Wicklow .The Sunbeam was sailing in ballast from Kilvara to Cork when she met her end. Caught in a gale she ran aground on Rossbeigh Beach on January 28 1903. there was no loss of life.
the South Kerry Camera Club, wants the ruins to be removed and taken to the county museum, lest the elements destroy all that remains of the Sunbeam.
