Totaranui is a 1km long beach and the site of a great camping site in the Nelson region of New Zealand,It is located in the Abel Tasman National Park towards the north end of the Abel Tasman track and is often used as a starting or ending point for hiking.
Originally an agricultural settlement, the only permanent residents are now the staff of the Department of Conservation. However, during the summer the population increases up to 1000 campers in addition to the hikers who also arrive. Water taxi services serve as a link from Marahau connecting Totaranui with other locations along the coast, while a series of roads link it to Takaka via Pigeon Saddle.
Totaranui beach It is located in Abel Tasman National Park toward the northern end of the Abel Tasman Track and is often used as a starting or finishing point for short hikes to Anapai Bay or to Goat Bay.
Among the protected gems found within the Abel Tasman National Park, is the impressive Totaranui beach. With blue waters and golden sands, this is the ideal place to relax.

Access : Coordinates: -40.818056, 173 / Most water taxi services depart from Marahau or Kaiteriteri and travel only to Totaranui to the north.-  Totaranui Beach is the furthest north that the water taxis reach / From Nelson to Totaranui is about two and a half hours. Taking the  SH6 south out of Nelson and turn onto SH60 / From Takaka ..( Takaka is the hub of, and largest town in, Golden Bay, in the northwest corner of the South Island of New Zealand. ) After 14 kilometres of gravel road you’ll finally be at the beach.
