New York’s 90% increase in tourists is over the past 20 years, according to a study funded by the New York Times Association (ABNY) and the Times Square Alliance.

Tourism is one of the four pillars of the New York economy, offering more direct average income jobs (291,084) compared to the technology sector (128,600).

However, the New York tourist sector needs to be prepared to face many new and evolving challenges that could arise from the devaluation of the dollar value and the growing negative perceptions of capacity problems at New York airports, designed to accommodate 60 million tourists annually.
