Vieques is a Caribbean island in Puerto Rico
The Island of Vieques  is known as “La Isla Nena” (little girl island) and “Isabel Segunda” (Isabel II) is an island-municipality in the Caribbean Sea that is part of the archipelago of Puerto Rico, in the northeastern Caribbean, which is part of a group of islands sometimes known as the Spanish Virgin Islands.Vieques is part of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

Vieques, together with its small neighboring islands, forms the municipality of the same name, which is divided into eight barrios, including the main town, Isabel Segunda.
Vieques has a length of about 33 km and a width of 7 km. It has an area of 135 sq.km. and is located about 16 km east of Puerto Rico. To the north of Viequez is the Atlantic Ocean and to the south the Caribbean Sea. Culebra Island is located about 16 miles (16 km) north of Viequez and the US Virgin Islands to the east. Viequez and Culembra, along with several small islands, are the Spanish Virgin Islands.
This island is best known for its United States Armed Forces training camp.
Today the island is dominated by tourism. Most holiday guests come from the USA and from the main island of Puerto Rico. The Vieques island is a famous place for scuba diving, and especially shelters one of the three bioluminescent bays of Puerto Rico, called Mosquito bay.There are regular flights to the airport in the capital San Juan. In addition, several (express) ferries operate daily between Fajardo on the main island and Vieques.

Access : Coordinates: / The island is located ten kilometers southeast of Puerto Rico (main island) and fourteen kilometers south of the island-municipality of Culebra. / Vieques  it can be reached by boat in one hour from Ceiba, or in thirty minutes from the small island of Culebra, and by plane from San Juan in twenty minutes.
