The fort is located on the Saint-Roch peninsula in Antibes , along the seaside road , it is built on a rock rising 26 meters above the sea, overlooking  the Côte d’Azur.
The Antibes fortress began to be built with a central tower in 1550 under Henry II. Then, four arrow-shaped bastions were added to it, which were called “Antibes”, “France”, “Corsica” and “Nice”. This fortress was considered very powerful and reliable for its time , In literary sources, Fort Carré is characterized as “impregnable”.
