Cape Colonna is an Italian cape, in Calabria, at the western tip of the Gulf of Taranto.
known in colonial times as Capo Lacinio ,the temple of Hera Lacinia erected in the 8th century BC. by the Greek colonists who founded Crotone. The temple was one of the most important and splendid of antiquity. Of this magnificent building, which had 48 Doric columns, today only a solitary column remains.The column has become the symbol of the city of Crotone and its ancient glory.
The ite is part of the Capo Colonna archaeological park, the most evocative and well-known of the archaeological parks in Calabria.At the entrance to the archaeological park there is the new archaeological museum of Capo Colonna where the findings from the excavation area are exhibited.

- Today there is also a sanctuary dedicated to the Madonna di Capocolonna on the promontory .The Marian Sanctuary of Capo Colonna is a pilgrimage destination every year for the feast of the Madonna of Capocolonna.
