The equestrian statue of Genghis Khan, which is part of the Genghis Khan Sculpture Complex, is a 40-meter-long sculpture on the horse at the Tsonjin Boldog, east of Ulaanbaatar, the Capital of Mongolia.
According to legend, Genghis Khan found a golden whip there. The statue is oriented to the east, towards the birthplace of the conqueror, and stands above a ten-meter-high reception center which serves as its base, surrounded by 36 columns representing the 36 khans, from the first, Genghis Khan, until the last, Ligdan Khan. It was designed by the sculptor D. Erdenebileg and the architect J. Enkhjargal.
The statue of Genghis Khan is considered one of the nine wonders of Mongolia and the main symbol of the state. For the entire Mongolian people, this monument is of great importance, because for him Genghis Khan is the person with whom the history of the nation begins.

Highlights :
- Steel was used as a material in the construction of the statue. The designers of the statue are D. Erdembileg (sculptor) and J. Enkhjargal (architect). The sculpture was completed in 2008.30 meters high, made of hollow stainless steel, it weighs around 250 tonnes, the total height with the building is 40 meters.
- The museum integrated into the complex, displays exhibitions related to the Bronze Age and the Xiongnu archaeological cultures of Mongolia, highlighting the utensils they used daily, belt buckles, knives, sacred animals, etc
- Visitors enter the interior of the statue and reach the head of the horse, from where they have a panoramic view. The site is surrounded by a camp of 200 yurts, arranged in the shape of a horseshoe, an animal used by the Mongol tribes of the 13th century.
- In addition to the whip in the tourist complex, the visitor is invited to try dishes according to traditional Mongolian recipes, play a game of billiards or take the elevator to the observation deck located in the head of Genghis Khan’s horse.
