Grüner See (Green Lake) is a karst lake ,in the area of the municipality of Tragöß-Sankt Katharein in the Oberort district, in Styria, Austria.
The lake gently fills with very clear water as the snow melts on the surrounding mountain slopes.
The Green Lake is popular with divers who enjoy diving to see the green meadows on the edge of the Grüner See, especially in June when the lake reaches its maximum depth. At this time, there is a bridge and a park bench underwater.
Due to the often calm water surface and the refraction of light on it, you have a wide-angle, sharp view of the forest all around and the steep and rocky mountains from below the water surface , nicknamed “Caribbean of the Alps” ,Green Lake is a favorite photography destination and a hot instaspot.
