Gullholmen, Sweden’s most densely populated island and one of Bohuslän’s oldest fishing communities. In addition to the island of Gullholmen, the small town of Gullholmen is inhabited by the neighboring island of Härmanö and covers an even larger area, including other smaller islands.  Härmanö has an extensive nature reserve. Gullholmen Church is also located there.
The island cannot be reached by car, but there is a footbridge from the neighboring island of Härmanö. Gullholmen offers a fantastic archipelago environment with boating, swimming, fishing and unique buildings,on the island there is a grocery store, restaurants & cafes.

Access : Coordinates: 58.183333, 11.4 / Gullholmen located in the county of Västra Götalands län, in the southwestern part of the country, 400 km west of Stockholm the capital of the country. / There is  a ferry service to Gullholmen from Orustin Tuvesvik.

Highlights :

  • The settlement is located partly on the small island Gullholmen (actually two islands, Stora and Lilla Gullholmen, with a short bridge between), partly on Härmanö (formerly two islands, Stora and Lilla Härmanö, now intertwined). There is a bridge between Gullholmen and Hermanö.
  • On Gullholmen there is still a fully functioning cinema that shows newly produced films, a well-preserved stone cottage from the 19th century, a museum called Skepparhuset, as well as a library and a bird museum.
  • Gullholmens Gästhamn : Gullholmen Yacht Harbour,Gullholmen can be found in Bohuslän’s outer archipelago :  50 seats Depth 1.5-3.5 meters , The port is cashless. The fee is paid at a card machine operated by Gomarina.
