The rock temple is hidden in the deep gorge of red rocks.The building of the temple relies on the rock wall and the homeopathic frame, and the entire building complex is supported by a large column, which is the Hanging Temple.
Located on the side of Mount Changtanrenxing, the natural cave  takes the form of an inverted pyramid 80 m high and 30 m deep. Its upper part extends to more than 30m in width, while its lower part covers only 10m.
Ganluyan Temple  is one of the famous rock temples and  it was listed as a provincial cultural relics protection unit in the 1950s , the temple is known for its original architectural structure and attracts many international visitors every year.

Highlights :

  • Ganluyan Rock is a natural cave hidden on a cliff. The cave is very large and the highest point is more than 80 meters wide and 20 meters deep. In the 16th year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1147), a wandering monk took a fancy to this cave and asked for help from everywhere, planning to build a temple in the rock. According to various terrains, carpenters built single-column pavilions on the ground. The building is famous all over the world.
  • The ancients turned this geographical disadvantage into an architectural advantage, and adopted a unique structural building of “one column in the ground.
  • According to research, in the 12th century, the famous Japanese monk Chongyuan visited Fujian three times to study the construction techniques of Ganluyan Temple. After returning to China, he rebuilt the world-famous East Nara Buddha Hall. The arch is sampled from Ganluyan Temple, which is known as the “Big Buddha”. In the 1950s, Ganluyan Temple was listed as a provincial cultural relics protection unit.
