Hyannis Port is a small residential village in the city of Barnstable in southeastern Massachusetts, United States.
The city is the commercial, administrative and transport center of the region. Hyannis is often called the “Capital of Cape Cod.” Barnstable County offices, township, major commercial and business areas, historic downtown, main shopping street, Cape Cod Mall are located here. The second most important thoroughfare of the peninsula – Highway 28 – passes through Hyannis.
US President John F. Kennedy had a house in the Hyannis Port neighborhood. He spent his vacations there. This is how the area became famous.
The main reason Hyannis is such a popular tourist destination is the abundance of beaches and golf courses in the area. It is home to Cape Cod’s first and foremost golf club, as well as a yacht club.
