Mackinaw City is a village located in Emmet County and Cheboygan County in the US state of Michigan. Located at the northern end of the lower peninsula of Michigan, bordering north with the Straits of Mackinac that separate it from the peninsula higher.
The resident population is only 859 people, but in the summer the population increases significantly due to tourists. According to AAA’s 2009 TripTik requests, Mackinaw City is the most popular tourist city in the state of Michigan. City remains an important port city for tourists traveling by passenger ferry boat to Mackinac Island.
Access : Coordinates: / By car : US 31 ends at I-75 four miles south of the village -the US 23 has its northern terminus in the village / From the Upper Peninsula, you have to cross the Mackinac Bridge, via St. Ignace.
