The old dispensary is a historic building in Stone Town, the capital of Zanzibar, the main island of the Zanzibar Archipelago.
The old dispensary located on the seafront, on Mizingani Road, roughly halfway between the Sultan’s palace and the port. The dispensary is one of the best decorated buildings in Stone Town, with carved balconies, stucco and mosaic windows.
It is considered a symbol of the multi-cultural style of Zanzibar architecture. It houses a small museum on the history of Zanzibar, with vintage photos of the waterfront.
Today The Dispensary is one of Stone Town’s major tourist attraction ,and no surprise that consists the most photographed place in Stone Town.
