Old Orhei is a historical and archaeological complex located 60 km northeast of Chisinau ,the capital and largest city of Moldova.
The Orheiul Vechi Archaeological Landscape complex counts traces of Dacian earth fortifications, Ruins of the medieval citadel and palace of Pyrkalaba, there were also five Orthodox men’s monasteries carved in the rocks, medieval earthworks and the special landscape in the Răut river valley. The approximately 6,000 hectare area, which includes the three villages Trebujeni, Butuceni and Morovaia, is the only nominated cultural world heritage site in Moldova and has been on the UNESCO tentative list since 2007. Orheiul Vechi has been a state-recognized cultural and nature reserve since 2009.
Moldova’s most beloved sites is a must-see destination known for its Cave Monastery and great views.
