Puka-Puka is an small inhabited coral atoll in the South Pacific Tuamotu Archipelago and is politically part of French Polynesia.
The atoll is a reef-surrounded peak of a seamount located in the western part of the Puka Puka submarine ridge. Puka Puka is the most isolated atoll of the Tuamotu archipelago. It is located in the northeastern part of the Tuamotu, 260 km southeast of Napuka Atoll and 183 km northeast of Fakahina Atoll.
The low-lying coral island are sparsely populated , the only village located on Northwest part of the atoll , It has an airport, and due to its isolation, administratively it forms a commune of a single island.
The Tuamotus have a well-deserved reputation as being one of the top spots for experienced divers. The atoll lagoons are protected paradises where underwater life is spectacular.
